Launch X431 ECU & TCU Programmer

Launch X-431 ECU & TCU Programmer reads, writes and clones engine (ECU) and gearbox (TCU) control units straight from the chip, on the bench. It is a standalone unit that runs from a Windows PC over USB, so it does not need an X-431 tablet.

What it does

• Chip ID, EEPROM and FLASH read/write — back up the original data before any work and restore it after a repair or a failed software update
• Data cloning — copies a unit's data onto a replacement. The built-in cloning routine is mainly for VW, Audi and Porsche engine ECUs; other makes are done by direct read and write
• Immobiliser shut-off and file checkout — the software processes your backup file online and saves the corrected file
• Bench connection with wiring diagrams — pick brand, model, engine and ECU, and the software shows the wiring to follow

Supported control units

Engine ECUs: Bosch EDC16, EDC17, MD1, MG1, ME17, MED17, MED9, MEV17 and MEVD17; Continental/Siemens MSD, MSV, SDI, SIM271 and Simos 8, 12 and PCR2.x; Delco GM E-series.

Gearbox TCUs: ZF 6HP, 8HP, 7DCT300 and AL; Bosch 9G-Tronic; Getrag DPS6, DKG, MPS6, SPS6 and VGS; Temic DL, DQ and VL381; Delco GM 6T/6L.

What you need to work with it

• A Windows PC with a USB port and an internet connection (software download and online data processing)
• One-time activation with the code in the supplied password envelope
• The matching adapter for the control unit: five matching adapter sets (A to E) are in the box, and gearbox cloning uses the gearbox clone adapter cables listed below
• It does not do key programming — this is the standalone version

Gearbox clone adapter cables

For gearbox cloning, Launch's gearbox clone adapter kit replaces jumper wires: find the cable for your gearbox, plug it in and clone directly. The kit (see the photo of all 13 cables) has 12 gearbox cables and a main line. Ask us when ordering whether the kit is part of your unit or an add-on.

Updates

A free update subscription is included. When it expires, the functions already released keep working, but new updates cannot be downloaded until it is renewed.

Important

Reading and writing control units can affect emissions compliance, the vehicle warranty and anti-theft systems. Use it only on vehicles you own or are authorised to work on. A failed write can damage a control unit, so always keep the original backup.
